A New Edition by DAVE MACDOWELL – Titled ” I get high with a liitle help from Vermeer”. Archival Pigment Print on the 300gms art paper.  Paper size measures 8.5″×12″ Hand Signed by the artist lower right from an edition of only 90.

David MacDowell was raised by a television set, and soaked in culture like a sponge. A self-taught artist, he incorporates media and social themes into brilliant and controversial satirical paintings. Working primarily with acrylics on canvas, David is not afraid of tapping into the dark side of American media worship. He tops off celebrity renderings with crying babies, candy colored nightmares, and a hilariously acidic sense of humor. Some have called his work a virtual “Disneyland on acid”. By bravely peeling away the veneer of pop culture, he validates the abused underbelly of society with x-ray glasses. With an ever-expanding list of international clientele, David’s work can be found in Atlanta, California, Florida and New York and now DirtyPilot.com

Now in the “Backroom” Gallery. 15 Fresh joints by WEB ONE of TC5. Check them out here:  http://www.dirtypilot.com/backroom/web_tc5.html

Born and raised in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn,Web came to notice graffiti on the subways in the early 70s. It wasn’t until he went to the High School of Art & Design in 1979 that he learned the art and culture of graffiti.

There he met Seen, Doze, Abby, 2Cute, Mr.Wiggles(Rek), Fabel, Lady Pink, Lady Heart, Paze, Ence, Size, Par and others. After being schooled by Quasar3, he began bombing insides in 1980. Somewhere around that time, he met Staf27 and they became partners.

By 1982 Web was doing pieces on the 2s and 5s and then expanded to the BMTs. Late in 1983, he joined a group called ICRY, where he met Doc TC5 and was put down in the 5. From there,it was on. Along with Ebn, Staf27 and Beam, they took over the 3 line. In late 85, Web and Doc visited the 1 line and made a major impact. Within that timeframe, he met Yourz(YZ) and did several cars on the BMTs and IRTs. By 1988, Web’s subway career ended.

In the last 20+ years, he has continued to paint and be creative, influencing generations thru his work.

DirtyPilot.com presents KOPYESON Recent Work
Check out graffiti writer/artist KOPYESON rocking some crazy characters on canvas and works on paper. A true aerosol spray can master.
The San Fernando Valley and greater Metro Los Angeles area have provided a challenging backdrop for much of Kopyeson’s work. It has served both as a playground and a classroom. In Kopyeson’s words- I’ve been writing copy since Jr. High. Instead of paying attention in class, I would always be drawing. There was this girl who’d let me copy her homework thus calling me Copy, Kopye, Kopyeson and Fukusya. Fukusya is Japanese for “to copy,” given to me by my Japanese girlfriend. As a fan of Japanese art I enjoy creating characters and drawing females. Appreciating the woman’s body. My style is raw and sketchy, gritty and grimy. Clean lines don’t exist. Characters are often correlated to my emotions. Some days silly & devilish. Other days sad. There are days where I have this intense creative drive and just spitting out crazy ass wild characters.
Kopye is a rising star in the West Coast art scene showing though out the San Francisco and Los angeles areas. DBRLA gallery, 33gallery, Crewest, to name a few as well as being sponsored by both IronLak and Belton.
These amazing works grace the cyber walls at Dirtypilot now through Oct 15th.
